A multitude of data interchange standards

When files are exchanged electronically, it happens in many different formats – and even though a standardization is aimed at, new formats emerge. The EDIFACT format and subsequent updates have for about 20 years been widespread in Europe, and TRADACOMS and ANSI x.12 have dominated England and in the US. Subsequently, format types based on XML have poured in – and recently we have seen formats like OIOXML, OIOUBL etc.
