What is VANS?
VAN = Value Added Network
VAN is an abbreviation for ”Value Added Network” and S an abbreviation for ”Service” or ”System.” In other words, VAN or VANS is a communications network capable of distributing data and information. Expressed in popular terms, VANS is an electronic postal service.
Instead of establishing separate connections to each partner, just one connection is established to the VANS network. The VANS network provides the distribution of data and information. Instead of a postal code, street and town, the so-called EAN location number is used. EAN is a unique number uniquely identifying the "owner" of the number.
Besides distributing electronic data and information, VANS can translate different electronic formats. For the individual company, institution or similar, this makes it possible to send and receive in exactly the format of your choice – even if your partner uses completely different formats.
Everyone can connect to a VANS network
Everyone wanting to exchange electronic data and information, can connect to a VANS network. The connection is made directly to each VANS operator. Evenex is the largest Danish VANS operator with more than 4,000 partners connected to the network.
FACT:
EAN means "European Article Numbering," which is a part of GTIN – ”Global Trade Item Numbers.” In Denmark EAN is managed by GS1 Denmark
